Technology Tension in the Fingers
In teaching my twice weekly classes, I’ve gotten into a rhythm. The classes all follow the same pattern — start lying down, do some seated and/or kneeling work and finish standing. My goal each time is to provide a truly full-body experience, and while I offer some different variations of movement in each class, I do have some favorites that show up more often than not!
One of these is for the fingers, wrist and forearms — finger figure eights. Given all of our technology time, even more so throughout the quarantine, I find great pleasure in articulating through my fingers and moving my wrist and forearm in very specific and controlled ways. Follow along with the video below, being mindful to keep your elbow in by your side (to minimize the use of the upper arm in creating the movement). The first few repetitions show just the wrist/hand movement, and then I add the finger articulation. Enjoy :)
