Resistance Band Ballet

For many years, I have been developing a specific approach to ballet technique that involves the use of resistance bands. Unlike the more conventional conditioning uses of these bands, my approach utilizes the bands to provide students with tangible connections between different areas of the body.

During and after the class, students will experience:

  • A holistically functioning body

  • A tangible sense of counterbalancing

  • An increased awareness of the upper body and its importance

  • A more centered and balanced ballet experience

I have published a book describing this method in detail and providing descriptions for most of the movement phrases taught in my class. These descriptions include discussion of the role the resistance band plays in each phrase and its connection to ballet technique, along with photographs to accompany and clarify the phrases.
