Reach the Vagus Nerve Through the Ear

Did y.png

Another interesting study just came out about the vagus nerve -- this time relating vagus nerve stimulation to a decrease in symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)! Researchers found that by stimulating the vagus nerve through the external ear, the brain inhibited the systemic inflammatory response seen in those with RA.

This is yet another example of the power of the vagus nerve, and the ways in which stimulation of this nerve can influence multiple body systems and processes.

What are some simple ways to stimulate the vagus nerve? Humming or vibration/warmth on the abdomen are two good places to start, along with breathing (longer exhales than inhales). Enjoy 😀
